Damian O'Riain

Aeromanteia

This is the third movement of a larger work fabricated entirely from a single 0.4 second recording of a ceramic chime clink. The sound was taken (with permission) from a batch of source materials used in Denis Smalley Wind Chimes (1987). Taking inspiration from Trevor Wishart’s Imago (2004) the work follows a similar regime: wherein all materials originate with the initial clink. I guess this piece is simply an homage to Smalley’s influential work.
